The first day of the cruise was entirely at sea. The weather went from the heatwave of Seattle to cool and damp ocean air as we headed north to Juneau. We spent a good chunk of the day exploring the ship.
The evening was “formal” which meant you are supposed to dress spiffy and lobster would be available for dinner. We’d already planned a meal at the Italian joint with an up-charge and I wore a tie. The meal was quite nice.
Afterward we popped into the theater for a bit of their “Rock Opera” program and quickly tired of it. A text from Heather instructed us to report to the Piazza, stat.
We found their crew enjoying a live cover band in the grand atrium that was largely devoid of any crowds. (We’ve concluded that Alaska cruises lean away from party vibes, so most folks were probably asleep at this late hour.)
A favorite memory of the cruise happened in this moment — getting drug out to the dance floor by Clara who embodies the spirit of ‘dance like no one is watching.’
There are photos of this moment that I promise to share in some big gallery, but I’m realizing if I don’t post now I will be forever behind with posting.
