Roji omakase and my somewhat secret list of Cincinnati favorites

Roji omakase doesn’t have a website, but they do have an instagram account with a barely filled grid. Their bio reads:

Speakeasy omakase sushi bar in a alley
Reservation book opens at 6am for that day. Set your alarms
Lunch Wed – Fri
Dinner Thur – Sun

I never get up at 6am (though I’ve been finding myself sleepless at that hour more often than I’d like). I generally look for availability mid morning and this place is always booked, but they had two slots open at 9pm this evening. I yelled up to Casey if he was game.

He was!

Omakase directly translates to – “I leave it up to you.”

So when you find this restaurant with 8 seats hidden behind an alley door, there are no menus. The chef chooses what you eat based on availability of ingredients (and we’re talking the freshest of the fresh).

There were 2 other patrons for this last seating, and it became quickly apparent that this was going to be a jovial evening.

Every dish, a delight, with good natured conversation through each course.

As we walked out I was giddy from the experience and sensations. I won’t lie, it was kind of magical.

Roji was immediately getting added to my somewhat somewhat secret page of Cincinnati favorites I send to friends visiting the city.
