Lunch break during the conference and I darted toward the exit. I was the only masked person upstairs and thought I might need to escape for the midday meal.
Approaching the door to the street I stop in my tracks and there’s Tina. We look at each other and she says, “Prepare yourself. I’m going to hug you so long!” and then we did, stepping outside into the sunlight to catch our breath afterward.
A whirlwind of activity and we decided to grab lunch out and dang if she didn’t read my mind. When we got to this little French joint she asked if I was okay eating inside and I said the empty front bar would be preferable.
Sidenote: Through all of the pandemic, all I’d ever wanted was to be asked about my comfort zone. So many invites were extended with assumption — I felt like I always said no. Trust me, if hanging out was the goal, I could have whipped up a dozen yes options!
We sit down and years of catching fill up the nooks and crannies… life, challenges, friends, love and what’s lurking in the spiritual realms of existence. And that was all before the radishes and butter arrived!
