The first full day in London

My friend Heather said we had to do a Brigit’s Bakery Bus Tour. The Peppa Pig and Paddington Bear offerings made me fret we weren’t the target market, but they also list Bombay Sapphire and Classic options. We did the latter.

The 1.5 hour tour is on an old double-decker bus with sweet and savory trays of finger sandwiches and pastries. Scones with jam and clotted cream close out the sightseeing loop that includes most of the places you’d find on London fridge magnets.

Silly fun, would recommend.

Afterward we hoofed it over to Harrod’s department store with over 300 departments of things we could not afford, save for tote bags.

Hopped on the tube to get to the West End for an early dinner at a joint called The Barbary with North African fare. This would be another favorite meal with exceptionally strong starters. In hindsight we might have just doubled up to explore more of those small plates.

Closed out the evening at the theatre for a twist on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Featuring Tom Hiddleston, Hayley Atwell and a solid ensemble, they shake up the old text with club music and intonation to make it all feel modern and maintain the humor. Not bad for a play written over 400 years ago.

For the first full day in London? I think we checked enough boxes.
