With much Thanks

My Aunt extended an invitation to share Thanksgiving at her home this year. It would be a potluck affair with the onus on her three sons who set the foundation for the meal.

My contribution would be deviled eggs and every planet aligned that morning as they peeled effortlessly.

As things were getting set we watched a bit of It’s a Wonderful Life from 1946. Every viewing of that film reveals a new scene somehow. It’s uncanny. I’m always, “I don’t remember this part at all.” but this could be a combination of never sitting through it as a kid, or general memory fragmentation.

After dinner I went down memory lane with cousin Adam and realized we have tons of overlap in what pages we’d dog ear in the Sears Wishbook.

  1. Mike made deviled eggs for Thanksgiving, and they were delicious—though he had such a hard time peeling the eggs. This led to a discussion with our two daughters, both of whom love hard-boiled eggs and struggle with peeling them too. I’m going to try your method next time!
