Nicola’s has been in Over-The-Rhine since 1996 and I’ve never had dinner there. I remember enjoying a lunch special at the bar once, it was equisite. The next visit was for a big birthday party for Denise in 2016.
Not sure how we arrived at the decision to celebrate Casey’s birthday here, but I’m glad we did.
Our server was super nice and knowledgeable, describing dishes and specials with great detail. We decided to split everything and they plated each dish individually in the kitchen (bonus). Everything was incredibly good, but I’d tag the roasted mushroom soup, carpaccio and gnocchi as exemplary — flavors seared into long-term memory good.
Extra bonus points for overall vibe and the customized menus for the occasion.
Now I want to visit again and try their weekly Bolognese special — it’s a family recipe they share with sister restaurants Via Vite and Forno.
