Hop-on Hop-off: Seattle edition

We bought the package deal for the Seattle tour buses that included the narrated loop and the hop on and hop off option. Today we did the latter and I’ll just put it out there: Skip the hop on hop off tour.

Downtown Seattle is a bunch of brand new high rises that aren’t very interesting. The pace is sluggish because of narrow streets clogged with tourists. It’s annoying in every way.

But we got some sun and saw things blur by so, yay?

Then we went to the MoPOP. I took a bunch of photos of Star Wars stuff and whatnot, but it wasn’t as awesome as before. This made me wonder if repeat experiences can seldom hit the echelon of a first visit. I don’t have an answer to this, but it will vex me for some time.

The highlight of the day was having dinner with Tyler and retiring to our rental to watch planes land — and there were so many planes to see (from a distance).

We talked about airlines, politics, music, travel, Broadway, the sliver of the moon and some other things. We also remarked how lovely it was to be there in the moment.

  1. I’m going to Seattle next summer, so I’m taking notes

We are planning on going to MoPOP (first time for us) but will definitely skip Dick’s, good looking out! The design and neon would have deceived me.

Bookmarking ‘How to Cook a Wolf’ too, looks delicious.
