A doozy, plus tomato soap

I once heard that the term doozy came from a car that looks a lot like the one pictured above — it means extraordinary or one of a kind. Said vehicle was a Duesenberg, with an extra long hood, chrome grill and swooping fenders. It was quite luxurious at the time.

Welp, turns out I’m wrong along with lots of folks. Doozy likely comes from daisy, which meant “a first-rate person or thing.”

I doubt I’ll ever divorce the word from cars that look like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

In other very exciting news, I’d been looking for Mrs. Meyer’s Tomato Vine Hand Soap for a spell and had given up — it was sold out everywhere. But tonight, there it was on an endcap and I scratched the itch.

As hand soap goes, it’s delightfully earthy. I don’t know why this sort of thing brings me joy but it does. I also like grass. Soap. And rhubarb.

  1. Oh, now I’m very curious about that soap, having once smelled and been impressed by a tomato vine candle. In other words, I understand. However, I have a feeling that I’m not going to find either here.

  2. That soap brings me joy, too. As I write this, I have the Mrs. Meyers grass-scented soap by my kitchen sink. I’m so glad you were able to find tomato vine!
