Cool Cool

Just started reading Tiny Beautiful Things — a collection of advice column letters and replies that inspire lots of head-nodding. I empathize with the questions and find inspiration in the answers. It doesn’t fit squarely on the self-help shelf, feeling more like essays for being a good human. Digging.

It has inspired mental conversations with former and future selves.

At some point today I was mildly curious what former me would think that I casually quick-pickle red onions for taco night. I was never one to cook and definitely didn’t like onions for a good chunk of my life — but now I seriously enjoy cutting vegetables into uniform slices.

In other food related news, kicked off the day with Cinna Stix in the air fryer and that was a mistake — one I make about every year or so when I get sucked into the Pillsbury section of the grocery and think, maybe these will be good! (They are not.)

In listening related news, thanks to a toot(?) from Luke Dorny I spent a good chunk of my afternoon listening to INXS and lamenting the loss of lead singer Michael Hutchence. They really had so many good songs and The Swing is an excellent intro to their music.
