Bee’s Barbecue

The day started off with a welcome thunderstorm that took a little heat out of the air. Clouds parted around lunch and I thought it’d be a good time to try Bee’s Barbecue, crossing fingers the brisket might still be available. Their hours sum it up: Wednesday-Saturday, 11am – sellout.

They did indeed have some brisket and the friendliest of folks helping me figure out an order. Grabbed a slew of things for dinner and a Bee Sting sandwich for lunch (pulled pork, cole slaw, BBQ Grippo’s, and Bee’s hot sauce).

I now know why this place is so revered (and opening another location downtown before too long).

I tend to shy away from ranking things, but I’ll say this is easily among my favorite barbecue in the city. I am more than happy to try more places and verify, but in the meantime I look forward to heading back to Bee’s.

Some good photos and stories on their Instagram.

Last tidbit that inspired a grin, their sign out front read “Why don’t you De La Cruz right in?”

A tip of my hat to Jim for the head’s up about this place.
