A delicatessen pop-up inspired hang-time that we padded with a speed-dating night of games. First up, the games:
Snakes of Wrath (above) – Cut-throat 2 player tile game with hints of Go/Othello amped up with way more approaches and strategy. Coupled with the fine graphic stylings from the Young Jerks and excellent production quality, this feels like a classic game for all time.
Chicken! (below) – Fast & easy dice game, also beautifully designed by Carpenter Collective. Once you get the hang of it, rounds go quick. Suitable for kids.
Vampire Survivors – Mike brought over his Nintendo Switch so we could all play this couch co-op game that just uses a joystick to control vampire slaying characters. There are no buttons as all attacks happen automatically. As randomly generated rogue-like games go, it is pure addictive madness.
Secret Beta Card Game (not pictured) – Been working for years with my friend Erik on bringing a card game to life. We produced some decks to kick the tires and now we’re trying to figure out the big game plan!

As for that Deli pop-up…
I’d missed the first outing by Young Buck, where they served Chicago Style Italian Beef Sandwiches at Binski’s Bar in Camp Washington. When they scheduled Mortadella sandwich night at Oakley Wines we signed up pronto.
The sandwiches came in hot and cold varieties paired with summer salads and homemade “Oreos” for dessert. Everything was all sorts of good with excellent drink pairings (and a selection of spirit free options).
Looking forward to whatever is next from these Young Bucks, hopefully a permanent home at some point. In the meantime, I’m eyeing this pizza.
