The Banshees of Inisherin ★★★★½

I can’t imagine seeing The Banshees of Inisherin in the theater as I had to pause the film more than once to collect myself.

Then again, I wished I’d seen it in a theater to amplify the experience and painterly framing of rural Ireland in that wonderful 2.39 : 1 aspect ratio.

I’ve half a mind to watch it again without subtitles now that I understand the pronunciation of names…PádraicSiobhán… even Colm sounded a wee bit different depending who spoke it.

I could steel myself for intense moments and soak in the ridiculousness and dark humor so well played.

Bonus: Listening to the composer’s bits of commentary on the soundtrack (Playlist on Spotify).
