It was a height of the COVID pandemic (there were several) and we decided to hit the road and drive to Florida. Casey and I had been isolating for months and so had his dad and Renee down south.
So we loaded up the car and drove all the way to Gainesville from Cincinnati. That’s 800 miles and I highly recommend not doing that in one fell swoop.
Got Door Dash breakfast from the Flying Biscuit CafΓ© and made the last leg of the trip to Tavernier in the Keys. (400 miles is much easier, but I’d still recommend smaller chunks!)
We spent the next day or so doing at the house or doing outdoor activities around Islamorada and then made a trip to Key West because I’d never been there.
Splurged for balcony rooms to watch the sunset and spent this full day seeing all the touristy things that made sense wearing masks. Highlights included the Hemingway House (and all the cats) and the Southern most point of the USA.
It rained most of the time, but we made the best of it and gathered good memories to boot.
