Love

On this day the Supreme Court listened to arguments in a case that challenges the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a law that defines marriage between a man and woman. It’s a major milestone for equality and though the ruling won’t be declared for some time, I saw immediate and powerful support from friends and family on the matter…

It began with a few folks changing their user icons on Facebook to the red equality symbol. And then a few more. It rapidly spread, and much to my surprise, folks from every facet of life were sharing the message. It transcended affiliations and political lines. This small but meaningful display of support was incredibly moving.

It gave me hope that no matter what the courts decide or how encroaching the government might be, there is love out there—and it’s growing.

Also, I loved this stamps designed by Jessica Hische.
