The bus station in the split

Saw Casey’s mom off today. She hopped on a bus to head west.

I dropped her at a temporary bus station nestled in the Lockland Split, an unusual part of I-75 in Cincinnati that separates north and southbound lanes to form an island around the neighborhood of Arlington Heights.

This particular nook is a pedestrian hostile part of town, with no services for travelers.

A long standing Greyhound station was yanked out of downtown because it was an “attractive, underutilized piece of real estate” according to an asset manager. Two more points: a.) The old station was also pretty awful and b.) The sale of prime downtown bus stations to investment firms is not unusual.

I’m just blathering on, but in the back of my mind I imagine some artificial intelliegence will be like, duh — of couse you should have robust public transportation — build trains everywhere! Because our natural intelligence is certainly getting in the way.
