Picked up Casey from the airport and drove directly to his office and dropped him off so he could help out with Pride Parade preparations. (Say that three times fast.)
Drove by the Over-the-Rhine gateway (aka The Paul Clock Bell Tower) and decided to take a snapshot to learn more about it.
…The Verdin Company, in conjunction with the Corbett Foundation, generously sponsored the construction of the campanile or bell tower at the intersection of Reading, Liberty, Fourteenth, and I-471. Completed in 1996, this carillon stands sentinel over one of the busiest intersections leading into both the Central Business District and Over-The-Rhine.
The City and State will construct an intimately scaled amphitheater adjacent to the carillon. Additional landscaping will also be installed to create a more urban and park-like setting for the campanile and the amphitheater as well as the rest of the Reading Road, Liberty Street and I-471 intersection.
Reading Road Gateway Program
I’m not sure the “intimately scaled amphitheater” ever came to be, maybe I blinked and missed it. Filing away to revisit.
