My idea of puce was wildly incorrect

Looking at the pair of photos from today’s walk, I wonder about the names of colors. For a hot minute I thought the green panel above might be puce. After some searches, I found my idea of puce was wildly incorrect. (I thought it was green.)

I’m not the only one that had wrong ideas about the shade: StackExchange thread, twitter poll, could it be a mandala effect?

Caught this flamingo on the way home. It’s almost puce.
