The Barbican

This trip began as a wild inkling in September of last year.

Long before Kim Deal announced a show in Cincinnati, there was going to be a special production in London. Not having vacation plans set for the year, it sounded like a good idea to plan a trip around a concert.

It ended up being an excellent idea.

The show was to be at the Hall inside the Barbican Centre which is nested inside the Barbican Estate, a sprawling complex with over 2,000 residences, several theaters, a library, art museum, restaurants and a conservatory โ€” all wrapped up in brutalist architecture.

I was enamored with every little detail and wouldn’t discover until after the trip that they had tours of the grounds. Next time!

So this post is dedicated to this concrete behemoth.

Above? A few not-so-great exterior shots (save for that Porsche) and below, a ton from the theater foyer that felt like a set from some space movie with good typography.
