Christmas Day at Devil’s Millhopper

The day was filled with opening gifts, attempting to gain favor of cats, visiting a large sinkhole, having hot cocoa at the visitors center, grabbing sandwiches from Wawa and waiting for bats to come out of their houses.

The following photos are from the sinkhole and hike around Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park. We took our sweet time admiring millions of years of layers going down the 132 steps to the bottom of the sink before making a loop around the rim.

This is definitely a place I’d like to return to view through different seasons.

Speaking of seasons, our evening outing to the University of Florida Bat Houses was a bit of a bust, but not surprising —spring through early summer should be more fruitful.
