Having a birthday so close to Christmas never bothered me growing up — my parents did their best to ensure its celebration did not overlap with the holiday. I’m sure this was way more of a bother for them.
Because here I was five days before Santa jumps in his sleigh and I’m super behind getting a things in order, and I don’t even have kids.
Saw a break in meetings and made a plan to run across town to pick up gifts with stops along the way. At some point I realized a Waffle House was en route.
This birthday just got infinitely better.
They changed the menu again and removed my go to breakfast with raisin toast and apple butter, but it’s all still there à la carte.
If I had this meal with regularity my birthdays would dwindle — luckily I don’t go often.
But I feel it’s good to go for it every once in a while.
Maybe it becomes a birthday tradition? You’re never too old to start new ones.

Today’s song came on randomly and I put it on repeat while driving through overcast flurries. It’s a mood.
