I’m voting

(Update: I voted.) I’ve shared on social media, but I’m long overdue for capturing this project and sentiment in my journal.

A while ago I was way too wrapped up in reading about the election and feeling numb.

I thought about what I could do in context of loved ones who tend to vote down party lines against their greater interests.

They’re religious. Their children have union jobs. They believe in smaller government and likely feel disconnected because of being fired up by Fox News 24×7. If they had to pick a single issue, they would be pro-life.

With that in mind I came up with a series of postcards with messages that might resonate.

I’m featuring the pro-life postcard but it’s already outdated. After Roe v. Wade was overruled by the Supreme Court, abortions have risen and more pregnant women are dying because of it.

Here’s the entire set of postcards I made that include messages about the economy, unions, healthcare, Social Security and then some.

All this said, I’m enthusiastically voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I’ve issues that aren’t addressed by the party platform, but here we are.

The stakes feel extra heightened this time around. I’ve felt this way EVERY PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION since I could vote. (The first time for Ross Perot I will admit.) But dang. The options are seriously night and day this time.

I’d love to have a discussion with anyone supporting this particular Republican platform, because it is beyond my comprehension when facts and policies are taken into consideration.
