If I look back at my gaps over the years when I failed to post regularly… July, August and September have always been problematic. There’s so much crammed into these summer months.
Whenever I have a day free I think: I’m going to just close out July and zip through August in one fell swoop!
And then the weather turns out nice or something shiny appears and that goal is quietly swept under a rug.
Related: I’m nearly through a year of revisiting 20 years of daily photos. I’ve been diligent about this side project and it’s been a reason for the cobwebs around there. It has turned out to be a lot more intense and time consuming than I figured, but also incredibly rewarding.
You’re such a talented photographer. You’ve really inspired me to take more pictures in my own life, and I’m so grateful for that.
Side note—I’m not on Threads, but I managed to check out all your photos there. Now I’m wondering if I should join Threads too. I will have to look into it.
First and foremost? Thank you! I think photos are lovely reminders!
I’m kind of regretting Threads a bit… When I started posting it was fairly small. My exercise needed a place to live and putting it all into a Meta product was not the greatest in hindsight. I’m growing more confident that the best approach is to publish on your own site and then share work to social media, etc. All this said, I was just winging it and have no regrets for the process. In the meantime, Threads blew up and became a real alternative to Twitter. The community is quite different though and has been supportive and progressive. But the walls are starting to deteriorate as ornery folks jump on board to stir things up.
Meta has really dialed up machinations of the default algorithmic feed to maximize engagement. So it’s evolving and I’m not sure it’s a place I need to be (especially as the election hits a boiling point).
I’m rambling! I could go on and on about it!
