Matthew Sweet and when music was near everything

It was drizzly. Casey had to bow out as he had to travel for work. Plus also, it was a school night. All these things swirled around as the Matthew Sweet show at the Ludlow Garage drew closer.

With minutes to spare I decided go to by myself — I’d never seen him in concert and enjoyed his music immensely back in school… when music was near everything, right alongside hanging with friends and making lots of mistakes.

(Come to think of it, nothing has changed!)

I saw Zan before the show started and was excited by the potential of our seats being close, but alas, they were far apart.

Matthew Sweet and his band were great. This turned out to be a greatest hits tour. The drummer was Debbi Peterson from The Bangles, Paul Chastain on bass, guitarist John Moreman and one more member I couldn’t pin down. His son?! I dunno, my hearing is bad! I’ll keep probing.

Not sure how I feel about the Ludlow Garage as a venue, but whoever does their programming is knocking it out of the park.
