Thanksgiving at April’s

My aunt hosted Thanksgiving at her home and everything was elevated with the addition of sunlight streaming through the windows. (A welcome detail as it has been so overcast of late.)

I brought coleslaw and deviled eggs to add the abundance of dishes from everyone — turkey, ham, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, stuffing, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls. ALL THE THINGS — and everything was awesome.

Went back for a second plate of sides and regret not bringing home a container with leftovers.

I somehow made room for desserts. A gluten free chocolate cake was my favorite with a tie for Yale’s chocolate pecan pie and an egg nog bundt cake as runner up.

Side note about deviled eggs: I have tried every method (short of forceful blowing) to peel hard boiled eggs and have come to believe two things:

  1. It doesn’t matter. Hard boiled eggs are finicky and will be easy or difficult to peel based on variables unknown.
  2. Even ugly deviled eggs taste great.

Two more points unrelated to egg preparation:

  1. I look like a giant in the above photo. (I don’t feel tall until I see it.)
  2. We need more get togethers centered around gratitude (that are also potlucks.)
