I don’t have a good plan for Threads, but for now I’m simply going to dig up a photo from this day in the past that hasn’t been shared before and post.
– me on Threads at the start of November.
I’m shy to cross post on social media (for no good reasons) and this felt like it would be a rewarding exercise to revisit.
I originally did an ”on this day” exercise with the first major re-design of this site, but it required publishing a post which then turned into a whole thing and it wasn’t easy-breezy anymore. (Now the featured image on my homepage is automated to the most recent post. That keeps things moving along without any overhead.)
So now I wake up each morning with coffee, type in today’s date and search folders that contain photos, change the year to 2003 and go from there.
Once I select an image I’ll just post to Threads with date, short description, and camera model.
It’s only been a week, but it’s been lovely.
It also is a great way to critically assess photos.
I recently noted “Cursing myself for taking photos of THINGS instead of PEOPLE. I want to squeeze in more context—not necessarily more photos, just more clues.”
So here I am, posting a photo of a bunch of things on my desk, but they each hold some meaning for the moment. Flowers from Casey, snack mix from Kathryn, a digital thermometer, tissues, a Kindle (I’m testing out e-book formatting), a ream of paper, a copy of All The Light We Cannot See and a candle for the spirits.
