My big sis… She was always doing something mysterious or of interest in her room growing up. Whenever I was allowed in I’d gravitate to her record collection, pore over album art and she’d play singles from the bands.
She was out of the house before too long and by then I was busy navigating growth spurts and bad haircuts.
Fast forward many years and she’d started a family of her own and guided her kids to be resilient, resourceful and most of all? Caring souls.
When folks ask me about my sister there is no hesitation in my response: “She’s the rock.”
Evident in the most trying of times and all the others in-between—she’s always been there with strength and fortitude.
And this morning she is gone.
Released from this world, returning to where we all go and have never left.
Reunited with loves while we remain to carry her spirit. To see through life with colorful lenses. To be there when the going is tough. And to celebrate the joys with every fiber of our being.
Five days ago I stopped by and the family had a custom Bengals jersey made for me. I was thrilled and had my niece capture this photo with Robin. I will cherish this moment for as long as I live, but it’s hard not to wish for more.
I shared this sentiment and her son Mark replied “That’s what dreams are for.”
Her spirit is strong in this world.
