Andrew Neyer has been formulating a list of his top 100 songs in his Instagram stories.
He also put out the call for anyone to share theirs as well. He’s going to create a page with everybody’s playlists soon enough (and I would fathom there is not a deadline, if you’re so inclined…) In the meantime, he’s got a few other music mixes on the Staff Radio section of his company site.
I was intrigued by the challenge and have been pouring over decades of music in an attempt to capture 100 tracks. It’s terribly difficult at first and then? A flood occurs… One song leads to another… to an era… to entire vibes…
Then you have too many songs and all of a sudden you’ve got two playlists of the core 100 and another for the things that got cut, or don’t fit, or certainly one Kesha song is enough, or any number of reasons.
I was testing out the flow of some tracks while raking leaves and futzing in the garage this evening. I kept coming back to an odd number from Edie Brickell & New Bohemians to potentially kick off my list. It’s called Oak Cliff Bra and I have no idea what it’s about, but I can literally feel Edie smiling when she sings it.
Oh, that neon thing in the garage? Erik and I made it in the beforetimes. It was the only usable piece of glass tube we bent in a neon workshop.
