Not sure when I started listening to Katy Perry but I think my friend Erik was involved along with the 2012 concert film Part of Me. That movie documented Perry’s path to fame and would be one of the few 3D Blu-rays I would ever own. It’s a hoot visually and that sums up Katy’s approach to stage productions.
This one had sets going from a bathroom, to trash dump, to a field of mushrooms and flowers and finishing off with a sparkly pyramid of steps.
If anything surprised me it was the moments when Katy interacted with the audience—she deflected uncomfortable situations with comedic flair.
Overall? Fun show, complete with eye glitch (YouTube short).
