Finally made that Dolly Parton Southern Style Banana Cake mix, cursing the amount of ingredients and steps required. Gave up on the pudding layer as we don’t own 2 round cake pans… only to find the “simple instructions” on the side that list a much easier variant and cooking times for rectangles.
I went ahead and whipped up a pint of heavy whipping cream to fold into the buttercream frosting.
At the end of the day it was all fine, but there was something fake and chemically about the whole affair. Love Dolly, but confident I wouldn’t make this again.
