Benefit from exerting effort

Been researching electric bikes for some time… Listicles, YouTube reviews, Reddit — the whole gamut.

I’ve taken one test ride and it was dreamy. Had I a trailer hitch I might’ve grabbed one that day but I’m told you need a tray mounted rack because e-bikes weigh more.

So I’m left to ponder and research. I’m just about to start a big spreadsheet like I did when shopping for cars in 2007. (That Rabbit is still the best car I’ve ever owned.)

Kermit riding a bike

The vision I have in my mind is something comfortable, upright, and not silly looking. Preferably with some lights and fenders, maybe a rack to put some stuff — essentially what Kermit was riding in The Muppet Movie. Bonus? It’s a not a garish color and reasonable in cost. Oh, and it should be easy to maintain and have a support network in the area. And I think I might want a step through instead of a crossbar because I am getting older and will be eating dinner at Bill Knapps soon.

I haven’t found a bike yet, but it’s fun to daydream and window-shop. Here’s a few that caught my eye:

Cowboy Cruiser ST in khaki
Cowboy ST
Trek Verve+ 3 Lowstep in Black
Trek Verve
Cannondale Treadwell Neo Remixte in Mantis
Cannondale Treadwell
Electra Vale Go! 9D EQ
Electra Vale Go

Here’s one of the rubs: Ebikes can remove a good chunk of effort from a ride and I would really benefit from exerting effort.

But if they make hills fun then I might ride more!

All this said, I need to use the bike I have.

So as temperatures lowered with the sun, I took a spin and it was lovely.

Luckily for my waist, Busken was closed. Their ovens were fired up though, and the scent of donuts filled the air.
