I don’t know whose idea this was, but it happened. Paul, Chris, LC and myself packed ourselves in a Corolla and drove to Monroeville, Pennsylvania to see the mall where they filmed George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.
We snuck into the hallways behind stores where they filmed some scenes, but for the most part, most of the iconic bits of the mall had been removed.
Still, it was fun.
Bonus? The short lived JCPenney logo affixed to the department store in the image above.
Extra bonus? The mall had an operating Orange Julius! (I got a Strawberry Julius because that’s what I got as a kid at Eastgate Mall.)
