Lexington
« Rewind to Saturday. I got in late from Columbus, did a few things round the house, then out the door again. The quick drive to Lexington was nice. The weather was great.
I missed the beer bust so checked into a hotel and looked at all the pay per view movies I would not purchase. $12.99 my ass.
Ed picked me up with a few friend’s and we met Bob at some really fantastic home cookin place. The fried green tomatoes were crunch and sweet.
We killed an hour by walking around the quaint downtown that is Lexington KY. Ed is a natural tourguide. We then took to the bar to find places to sit for the Mr. Kentucky bear contest that Bob would be subjecting himself to. This, the magical event that brought these two souls together.
Fast forward to the end of the night. The fire marshall put an insane cap on the amount of folks in the bar so the contest was held upstairs in some empty storeroom / apartment. There were fluorescent lights and a low drop ceiling. It was hot. We weren’t allowed any sort of drinks. In between brief interviews with the contestants, there was endless raffling.
If it wasn’t for sitting next to Ed, it would’ve sucked. But we actually had fun in commiseration.
Bob shone like the centerfold material he is, but I think the judges disqualified him when he hit the Asian girl in the head with a jockstrap.
I have lots of pictures, but did I mention the fluorescent lights? The color temps and red eye are going to take some work.
