Tradewinds II

You don’t have to twist my arm too much to get me to admit why I schedule my days up in Columbus. Aside from the fact that it makes my client happy, I also get something out of it— the best happy hour I’ve been to, ever.

Serious.

Ok, it might not beat the Lonestar during Dore Alley, but we’re talking consistent, and within spitting distance.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, it’s not always “on” but for the most part, the Bear / Biker-Trash Bust is a hump-day treat. The bar, Tradewinds II, is within staggering distance of my client’s office and my hotel.

Kismet.

This place draws a diverse crowd of handsome faces, and most of ’em seem happy to be there. The predatory vibe of most bars is replaced by this underlying sense of camaraderie. The beer’s cheap too.

I believe Columbus is a magnet for exceptionally good beards. Among them, LJ’er and the hunk he calls his other half. He gets the prize for the first feller I know with a journal up there, though I hear there are a handful.

I tend to wander around, splitting time between the bears and the biker contingency.

The other fun tidbit on these nights, the chalkboard in the bathroom becomes a top ten list, generally getting naughtier as the night goes on. This weeks’ topic “May Day! May Day! I need…” You can imagine where this goes…
