The Big Pig Gig

In the year 2000 our fledgling web design studio took on the task of building a database driven website for Artworks’ Big Pig Gig public art extravaganza.

Back then the web was 640 pixels wide and we only had 256 colors to work with… So we zoomed in really close and made checkerboard patterns to capture the branding colors and vibe.

Pigs could be searched by title, artist, sponsor or an interactive map.

The project was a huge success, drawing visitors to Cincinnati and raising money for local organizations as the pigs were auctioned off. Overall? A wonderful project all around.

You can learn a bit more about The Big Pig Gig on Wikipedia.

As for this project? I think it looks great 21 years later. Then again, I am biased.
