50 Sad Chairs

I saw many of these chairs as Bill posted them online in the early 2000’s. Just a snapshot of a chair with a fun title. And then he made a little book with these images. It’s a sturdy little thing and I am filled with delight every time it catches my eye.

I’m trying to pinpoint why I have this reaction, and I’ve come to a few conclusions.

This book represents the willful act of finding something of interest in what might otherwise be overlooked or looked down upon. It captures a sort of meditative process, elevated by repetition, turned into something tangible and shareable.
