Applesauce

Thanks to my family doctor’s practice, I learned how simple it is to make applesauce. Apples, lemon juice, cinnamon and for kicks? A touch of black pepper. I made a batch for Thanksgiving and now I can’t stop thinking about it.

Corelife

“All food will end up in bowls.” a friend told me. The proliferation of fast-casual dining continues, but I like the healthy twist that seems to be popping up more and more. CoreLife Eatery just opened up on the east side last month and the only thing with gluten on the menu is the optional […]

Back to the supermarket

I just liked the pattern, I can’t actually abide by Cap’n Crunch. Kroger got me all excited about cooking with their mealkits, but they’re always the same anymore so I just started cooking on my own. I’ve gotten pretty good at making Chipotle’s super simple guacamole recipe to go with taco night. I did notice […]

Another meal kit. This one? No thank you

There have been some… less than awesome meal-kits from Kroger’s (oddly named) “Prep-Pared” selections. Tonight was Island Blackened Cod. It was… acceptable calories… but that’s not the target I’m shooting for when having dinner at home. I’ve had much better success in the past, and haven’t documented the enthusiastic thumbs up for the Bacon and […]

Rainbow veggies

This is my go to recipe when I want something easy and healthy: Chicken and Rainbow Veggies.

Wrapping up in Ireland

Really good news earlier in the day felt punctuated by this rainbow walking home in the evening. More on the former soon. The light rail system in Dublin makes me all the more excited about our own in Cincinnati. It’s my favorite way to get around the city. Also ready for this to become more […]

Stehlin’s Meat Market

To make some Bo Kho (Vietnamese Beef Stew), I needed bone broth. I could’ve used some pre-made stuff, but I was determined to follow the recipe as closely as possible. I pass by Stehlin’s Meat Market every day I drive to the studio and have been curious to stop in. Sure enough, they had some […]

Nada

It only took a few months of planning, but finally connected with old friends at Nada. My only wish is that we’d had another hour or two to catch up, but there was sleep to be had.
