How to Be

How to Be

My friend “The Brown” recently scared me into thinking she got a tattoo of Robert Pattinson.
Thank goodness she didn’t.
But her obsession with this vampire heart-throb of angsty tweens is adorable otherwise.
I’m even keen on R.Patz’s contributions to the Twilight soundtrack thanks to her.

Now as for “How to Be” – an independent flick he starred in before his big break, I can’t support.
Luckily there was a fast-forward button and I was able to jump to the end and realize
I wasn’t missing much with this great looking film that lacked a story or character.

Over the Rhine / Gateway Celebration

Mike

Mike (half of MiCA) keeps things tidy during Saturday’s big event in Over the Rhine.
(And I’m sure he’s going to wonder if I could have found a better photo to represent the day).
Fact is, we got there late and crammed to get everything set up, and the rest of the day was a whirlwind.

Barely had time to pick up the camera.

It was a great day though.

Finally got to meet Maya of VisuaLingual, love their work and picked up some goodies
for the home. Also checked out Drew in his inaugural out-in-the-wilderness set-up for Kitsch Café.

Good vibes. Music. Sun. Beer. Creative folks.
That’s pretty much a recipe for awesome.

Hardwick / McHale

Chris Hardwick

Went down to the Palace Theatre in Louisville to catch Chris Hardwick and Joel McHale make some funny.
Had a blast, shook Joel’s hand then stole his beer, and spent a little chunk of time saying howdy proper to Chris.
Quality guy through and through.

Joel McHale

I’m not sure what to caption this one, but Chicken Tetrazzini works I suppose.

Brandon being shy for the camera.

Two old friends plus a new one (not pictured) stop by for the night between
Phish shows in Missouri and Pennsylvania.

A bit of grilling late at night, a round of Euchre and it was time for bed.

I made sure no one slept on the lawn.

Oakwood Club

oakwood-club

I’ve got a list of restaurants I want to try, if only for a single visit.
The Oakwood Club is one I can now add a checkmark beside, thanks
to an evening with Jenny, Christina, Anthony and Dan.

I highly recommend getting the creamy garlic peppercorn dressing
with blue cheese crumbles on a salad to start off. From there, it’s pretty
traditional fare served in an old-fashioned wood-paneled establishment.

And I’m not whining because they made me take my fine english driving cap
off, but the place needed a little injection of life; maybe some upbeat music, I dunno.

I’d still go back for the food on a special occasion.

Flat warming party

view

A friend (literally) opened up their flat for a housewarming party of sorts.
Excellent views from every vantage inside and out.
Not sadly, there were so many great folks and conversation, I didn’t manage to brandish the camera too much.
