There’s a lot of beauty in ordinary things

Today had at least two momentous occasions.

1. Made tomato soup from scratch using this recipe. But I have two more I’d like to try. This simple take and this version with gorgonzola.

2. Casey highly recommended the (American) Office and since it was leaving Netflix this year it has been many evening’s entertainment.

At first I was reticent—Michael Scott was so… cringe. But I stuck with it and at some point his antics became one ingredient to a larger set.

I’m going to spoil the last line here soon, so if you haven’t seen the finale just look at the tomato soup and scroll by.

The last few seasons are somewhat different as Steve Carell was off making big movies and they filled in his gap with a rotating cast. But the last set of episodes introduces a very different perspective that starts to bring a layer of humanity to the characters.

When Pam rolls out the last line, I got it.

“There’s a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn’t that the point?“
