Srsly 2020

Something I didn’t include in my post about the last day of 2019? I spent a good chunk of it with attorneys and clerks trying to close out things with mom’s estate. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think a major threshold was crossed and moving forward is possible.

Long Sidebar: Get your affairs in order. Srsly with no vowels—put the things you wish on paper, properly. It’s hard and annoying, but this is an opportunity to help the ones you love work through a very difficult moment.

Mom had said everything she wanted, but we didn’t get the paperwork back to notarize it in time, and it made everything really… heavy.

As executor, I did my best to be honorable, but it was at a cost I don’t think mom would have wanted.

There is light toward the end of this particularly long tunnel—but it is not the end of a chapter, it’s bigger than that… It’s the beginning of a new part.

In other news, I went to the Container Store just to look at boxes today. I didn’t buy anything, I just didn’t want to spend the whole day looking through old boxes. (Eventually I did tackle a closet back home and decided I might not be a size 36 waist ever again. Significant piles for donation were made.)
