These moments

A trip to Costco

Trips to Costco are rarely necessary. Even if you’re out of toilet paper you can get by with non-bulk provisions in a much tighter shopping radius.

But I had an afternoon with no meetings, and some light needs, so I made the trek.

It was all going fine until the aisle of soda that faces the book department and I began to miss my mom terribly.

I usually have her perspective on tap, hearing her best self smile and answer questions or marvel at the sights.

But at that moment? Her absence was distinct and tears began to form.

Perhaps there is no bilocation in the spiritual realm, and she simply was needed somewhere else in that very moment.

I’d like to think she was tending to something delightful or important, knowing that I’d be okay. And I will be, but I feel compelled to acknowledge these moments.
