SNES’ing

SNES, bourbon, cat butt

I went to my storage closet, the place where I keep:

  • Christmas decorations
  • tools
  • camping stuff
  • seasonal clothes
  • wrapping paper
  • binders full of compact discs
  • bulk items from Costco I’ll dole out in small parcels (toilet paper, paper towels)
  • boxes for electronics
  • memorabilia
  • old videogame systems
  • and a WHOLE BUNCH OF STUFF I REALLY DON’T NEED.

Lately? I’m keenly aware of all that stuff, and it freaks me out. So I’ve started making piles of things to keep and things to let go.

It’s an exhausting process for some odd reason, so I broke out the Super Nintendo, had a bourbon, and played some old games that looked pretty bad up-rezzed on an HD tv. Also? Donkey Kong Country is exceedingly frustrating, but also addictive.

Another also? Edie eventually curled up next to me and offered her paw (this is really rare for her). I’m not sure if this was in helpfulness, solidarity or an overt nudge to put the controller down.
