Mike Perry’s Pulled at Yes

I’m decidedly smitten with everything that lands at YES in Cincinnati,
the part gallery, part workspace in Over the Rhine.

Through the end of May and all of July they featured works from the new book by Mike Perry.
The book is Pulled: A Catalog of Screen Printing and it’s more than solid. Showcasing
works of contemporary artists and illustrators in the medium.

But even better was seeing many of the featured prints up close and in person.

The way the ink hit the paper. The textures and details that just beg to be seen up close.
So. Dang. Inspiring.

Demo “Peoples”

Detail (above) Marcroy Smith “Ceefax”

Andy Mueller “Happy Planet”

Above and below: Details from James Victore‘s “Dirty Dishes”
Note: the wrinkles are not printed on, but a reaction of the newsprint to the ink. Quite genius.

Seripop “Untitled”

Above: not part of the current exhibition, but still a fine print from Matt W. Moore.
