When Depeche Mode announced their 2023 tour, only a handful of North American stops were set. Considering all the options, coming up to Toronto was the most enticing as Casey had never been and I wanted to explore the city more.
Some months after getting tickets they announced more shows, many closer to Cincinnati, but the plans were set in motion. Besides, the whole process of buying concert tickets is a stressful matter.
The show itself was solid. Staging was a big ol’ screen and san-serif M lifted from the Memento Mori cover design, another dud by Anton Corbijn.
They played a handful of songs from the new album with the bulk being greatest hits. I was hoping for Everything Counts and a few others and was not disappointed. (Full setlist)
