I’m decidedly smitten with everything that lands at YES in Cincinnati,
the part gallery, part workspace in Over the Rhine.

Through the end of May and all of July they featured works from the new book by Mike Perry.
The book is Pulled: A Catalog of Screen Printing and it’s more than solid. Showcasing
works of contemporary artists and illustrators in the medium.

But even better was seeing many of the featured prints up close and in person.

The way the ink hit the paper. The textures and details that just beg to be seen up close.
So. Dang. Inspiring.

I’ve posted about this on our studio blog, but the long and short of it is:

• Kelley Deal and Mike Montgomery are residents at the South Park Tavern every Tuesday in April.
• They’re having friends kick off each evening with talks about all sorts of stuff, music, and demos.
• I’ll be speaking on April 26! Which is the first time I’ve stood in front of people and gave a presentation.
  (Please leave tomatoes at home.)
• I’m going to talk about Taking Photos: How and Why.
• Kelley and Mike will close out each night performing as R.Ring.

The whole thing starts at 9pm.

One of the highlights for this visit was to spend more time at Firecracker Press.
This go round we were able to chat with owner Eric Woods.
Great guy, loads of talent and generous to share so much insight with us.

I think this was Farm Day #6, where friends and family descend on the farm, bring potluck goodies,
wander the fields, play music and print shirts. Tom was the man behind this very special mullet version.

And though I rarely make the time to take photos, I did quite enjoy this one below that shows you can teach kids valuable lessons early.

Kim and Kelley take a break after printing up 1000 limited edition “Fate to Fatal” EPs.
I’m going down to Shake It Records tonight (8pm) to see them play some music in commemoration
of the release and Record Store Day.

Things have been so pedal-to-the-metal that I haven’t really taken the time to talk about this record.
The cover is the first one I’ve ever designed proper, and it’s a helluva an joy to work with The Breeders.

Vaughn Oliver’s work with them is one of the biggest reasons I do what I do these days.

The fact I love their music? Gravy. The best gravy ever.

Total honor.
