At Music Hall this time around, and I enjoyed it muchly.
Favorite part was the closing number, Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks done super unplugged
with the crowd singing along. Pretty dang awesome really.

Back in March I mentioned I’d be giving my first talk up in Dayton. That bar graph above is one slide from a deck of seventy.
I won’t lie, getting a coherent story together nearly gave me a heart attack. It wasn’t until the last 36 hours that it made sense.

In a nutshell, I talked about how I started with photography and why I still do it today, with lots of insight and examples
crammed in there for color.

Yep, I’ll share the contents online at some point, but I want to iron out a few wrinkles and make it extra pretty.

As for standing up in front of folks and holding a microphone? I need practice. Lots of it.
But it helped that when I looked out at the small crowd up at the South Park Tavern, I saw lots of familiar faces.
Thank you to those that drove all the way up from Kentucky and Columbus and Oxford and other places.
Really meant the world to me.

After I was done, gulped down a beer to get rid of the shaky legs and enjoyed the big ticket entertainment for the night. (more photos!)

Saturday was jam packed I tell ya.

After the bending workshop we joined some friends for fancy hot dogs and gluttony downtown,
headed to Kentucky to kill a slice of time before our friend Russ and his bandmates
performed some Irish music at Arnolds.

The Unlucky Charms were already in full swing when we walked into the courtyard.
Turned out to be a perfectly rowdy way to close out the night.

Kristin, Jeff and Joel perform for the first time together with an audience during Bre’s birthday celebration.

I’d like to mention that I gained 5 pounds from hanging around the dessert table too long.

Decided to take the long way home and loop down through Memphis, Tennessee.

Had a big ass beer down at the Blues Hall Juke Joint to close out the night.

The Tillers performed at the Northside Tavern with a host of other musicians,
all benefitting the Center for Respite Care.

Really excellent show.

Snapped this with the camera on my lap while The Brown up and gave an excellent recital.
She’d been working on these pieces for months and it was evident, much to the collective
chagrin of me and her friends who have been ribbing her all this time.

She was excellent.

Caught wind of old friends playing jazz out at the Northside Tavern on a school night.
Though I worked super late, I wrapped up in time to catch their last set.

Good times, great music.

Oh, and these guys are called simply The Quartet, even though there might be six folks playin’.
Just thought I’d clear that up.
