Trivia night fundraiser up in Oxford.
Our table’s theme was “Forever Lazy” because it involved the least amount of effort.
We donned pajamas, slankets, and the aforementioned As-Seen-On-TV polyester get-ups.

We also won, but even losing would’ve been a blast I’m most sure.

I didn’t make it to the zoo this year to catch the tulips, but they are just about everywhere.
Though never long enough.

One day? I hope to make it out to a big field of these colorful flowers.  It can be the Pacific Northwest,
Holland or anywhere for that matter I suppose. Just making a mental note to put it on the list.

When the event rolled around, the forecast was rain. Torrential rain. (In some ways, it feels like it has never let up.)
But it was colorful and lively on the inside, even without the big race.

Already I’ve kicked off the year with cute puppies.
I suspect this year will also be filled with more photos of cats and dogs, chickens, toys, barns,
cars, smiling faces (I hope), stuff from the studio, and some travel to boot.

On that last note, I’m excited to be heading out to the Alt Design Summit in Utah next week
with Wendy from Wire & Twine.

In the meantime, I have to find some cheap ski pants.

I guess it was January when Zan (pictured above) crossed my virtual path. (Thanks Merlin)
That connection turned into hearty admiration for her words and her photos.
And that turned into the discovery that she was from Oxford and knew Wendy’s mom
from a summer program way back when.

So when she was in town for a holiday road trip with her fella, we met up proper at the farm,
had some coffee, held some chickens and did a little studio tour. Zan writes about it better here.

Then the hour hands of the clock whirled around way too quickly and it was time to say goodbye.
At least for now.

But this was really about hellos.
And they were excellent hellos at that.

Never doubt the amazingness of the internet, good people, or amicable chickens.

Or maybe the illusion played out better farther away.

Anyway, it looked like the road disappeared into the sky.

Some poetic quality to this phenomenon.

I’d like to mention that I gained 5 pounds from hanging around the dessert table too long.

It doesn’t feel like we’re saving daylight these days, but then again, I’m not an early riser.

This used to be a Cold Stone Creamery and a Qdoba on the main drag in Oxford.
They just tore ‘em down to make room for a Cold Stone Creamery and Qdoba… with apartments on top.

A visit to this classroom makes me think we’d benefit having Science Fairs for adults where we have to make displays and share them with others.
