Taste of Belgium Bistro in Over the Rhine has these waffles with Nutella and fruit that cap off breakfast quite nicely.

Highly recommended any day of the week.

Breakfast-mate Meredith stands in front of the West End Loan I felt compelled to snap because the signage
hits all the right notes. I’m particuarly fond of the ELECTRONICS type:

I went down to Over the Rhine to set up for the Summer Celebration / 5K Run.
Sold t-shirts all day in the near perfect (maybe a tad warm) weather.
So steamy, I didn’t realize my lens was a little fogged up.

Watched all the runners and walkers and dogs make it around the course, enjoyed
the music and kept downing lemonade.

Above? I dug this old building yet to be renovated after I parked the car.
Turns out my friend Maya likes it too. She has more views and peeks around the corner.

The 2nd Annual Over the Rhine / Gateway Summer Celebration was a blast this year.
We set up to hawk tees (including this new one a bit before Apple showed off their new video-calling thing).
There was excellent food, lemonade, music, beer and good chunks of sunlight.

And obviously I can’t break myself away from the phone for adequate Facetime.

Checked out the opening of HOME WORK in a part of the West End that I’d never visited.

This is one of the charms of Cincinnati… The neighborhoods are really distinct and there are
always new places to discover. Though they might remind you of somewhere else
(this enclave seemed lifted from Brooklyn), they feel authentically transplanted and integrated.

The whole setting was an excellent backdrop for this new work from VisuaLingual which was
inspired by the architecture in these neighborhoods of Over the Rhine.

Great stuff. Impeccable really.

Best bet? Take a stroll down there. The show runs through the month (details),
installation photos are on their studio blog and artifacts can be acquired online.

They were in town to celebrate the release of Super Desserts new LP, “Banjo Forever“

My friend “The Brown” says this photo of the Liberty Lounge is the pits.
It really is glum, and largely uninteresting, but I only snapped 3 photos outside of the studio this day.
Sometimes you’ve got to work with what you have.
It also continues my fascination with vans.

Mike (half of MiCA) keeps things tidy during Saturday’s big event in Over the Rhine.
(And I’m sure he’s going to wonder if I could have found a better photo to represent the day).
Fact is, we got there late and crammed to get everything set up, and the rest of the day was a whirlwind.

Barely had time to pick up the camera.

It was a great day though.

Finally got to meet Maya and Michael of VisuaLingual, love their work and picked up some goodies
for the home. Also checked out Drew in his inaugural out-in-the-wilderness set-up for Kitsch Café.

Good vibes. Music. Sun. Beer. Creative folks.
That’s pretty much a recipe for awesome.
