A continued tradition: brunch with ma and bro at Take the Cake.

Twice now I’ve seen Andrew Neyer’s work outside of YES.
Always a pleasure.
There’s a playfulness there, but also? I think he’s using my favorite font ever: Univers.

Another fine thing spotted down at MiCA: this flask.

We’re having a string of gray, wet days here in Ohio.
Here’s the same view from Devou Park in sunnier, blue sky-ier days if you’d like some contrast.

Speaking of contrast, Tom made these salmon salads for lunch from leftovers and they were delicious.
I can’t recall the last time (if ever) I’d had dandelion greens. Chunks of apple made it extra awesome.

The day started out catching mascots from around the area play broomball on Fountain Square.
They’re always doing something down there. It’s nice like that.

Then it was over the river to grab lunch in Kentucky. (Above, the Roebling Bridge)

Back to Ohio and drove around The Banks on the river to see how the construction was going.
Passed behind Longworth Hall where WOXY used to be. Miss those folks.

The new Moerlein Lager House is coming along nicely.

Then popped over to the convention center for the Cavalcade of Customs.

Heavily modded cars aren’t usually my bag, but there were some fine specimens.

I’ve got a few hundred more photos, but it’s days like this where they’re so chock full, I get frozen
by the enormity of it all. I’m reminding myself to pick a few, step away, and plow forward.

I expect this view across Hoffner Park in Northside will keep getting better with seasons and time.

I’m the guy that goes to the Taste of Cincinnati and takes exactly zero photos of food.
It was sweltering that day, and packed as I’ll get out.
Went in, got some Montgomery Inn barbecue and went to find shelter in some AC.
My only gripe is that everything’s a meal and would benefit from bite sized portions as an option.
Otherwise? It’s still totally worth it.

I went down to Over the Rhine to set up for the Summer Celebration / 5K Run.
Sold t-shirts all day in the near perfect (maybe a tad warm) weather.
So steamy, I didn’t realize my lens was a little fogged up.

Watched all the runners and walkers and dogs make it around the course, enjoyed
the music and kept downing lemonade.

Above? I dug this old building yet to be renovated after I parked the car.
Turns out my friend Maya likes it too. She has more views and peeks around the corner.

At Music Hall this time around, and I enjoyed it muchly.
Favorite part was the closing number, Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks done super unplugged
with the crowd singing along. Pretty dang awesome really.

It’s bike season.

Went all along the river with my friend Heather and ended up in the new area by the baseball field
for a beer to eliminate all the calories I had burned.

Always fun to visit Jungle Jims.
I really count it among Cincinnati’s top destinations for visitors and dwellers alike.

(sidenote: I didn’t have the heart to post the packaged pig and lamb heads, but if you’re curious…)

Drove over to the other side of town for dinner with friends from way back (all the way to kindergarten.)

Had a great time, but needed  to cut  the evening short as I had a deadline looming.

Other highlight? The rain abated.

Actually, these are pictures from a night with friends getting together and going to the symphony.
It’s only our second time, but it has the mark of tradition.

And I’m a horrible person for not getting everyone together for a photo since we were all spiffy.

Washington Park is being transformed. I’m excited for the end result.

Oh hai.

While snapping photos downtown I met up with this little guy and his mom and dad.
“Hey, I know that shirt! I made it!” I exclaimed.
“No way!” his parents replied, and said if we ever needed a model…
“Well how about now?” and the day just got all that much brighter.

A pretty awesome brilliant Sunday.

Spent the day noodling around with friends, had breakfast at Tuckers, walked around Over the Rhine,
stopped by Doe Run Lake Park in Kentucky, enjoyed some deck time, tried a Four Loko (gross),
played with a Nintendo 3DS (the glasses-free 3D is impressive, needs games, but the camera is quite nifty).

All that and even a bit more.

Finally peeked in the windows of YES gallery / artist space. Totally intrigued.

Went to see a documentary about William S. Burroughs.
I’m sure the heart of the filmmaker was in the right place, but it was frustrating and arduous to sit through.
We walked out.

The night wasn’t a wash as we tried out a Vietnamese joint for dinner.
It was tasty.

I suppose I’m obsessed with The Daniel Carter Beard Bridge (aka Big Mac Bridge), given how many times
I grab a snapshot of it. (Previously March 2009,  November 2009).

Spent the evening on the Newport side of the river and the rest of the day was a bunch of blurry shots.
Which is a shame, because the bartender at the Beer Cellar was doing fancy Cocktail like spins
with bottles on fire.

It’s dud days like this where I seriously doubt the commitment to post a photo from the day.

I’ve decided my new favorite pancakes in Cincinnati are at Sugar n’ Spice.
They’ve been making them for 70 years now, and I think they have ’em down pat.
Also tasty: their goetta.
(And their new decor is a bonus)

When the weather gets warm again, and I hope that’s soon, I’m going to ride my bike down here
and remove the trash properly.

In this instance, dinner was at Melt with a friend on a rainy day.
Melt is one of these places that I kind of wish was a buffet, because I want a little of everything
each time I go and it’s hard to decide on just one thing and one side.
