I had a whole post about politics that got me really hung up on this image.
In lieu of holding things up, I’m moving those words to another post and getting on with things!

When the weather gets warm again, and I hope that’s soon, I’m going to ride my bike down here
and remove the trash properly.

I can’t lie, I keep hoping the Jacob’s Mechanical robot / mascot in Camp Washington will come to life
and be really nice and awesome, and perhaps a little misunderstood but ultimately prevail in his new commission.

On Saturday, Tom and I went to Hive13, a hackerspace here in Cincinnati, for a Bending Workshop.

Many different skill levels were represented, with me at the noob end of the spectrum having never
used a soldering iron before.

We made these Bending Buddies (pictured complete below) that allow you to patch and probe circuits for sounds.

Tom finished his in no time and went on to make a contact microphone.
(Both kits available here by the folks from GetLofi leading the class.)

I think I got the hang of it, but I realized what I really want to do is make things light up.

Back when I was a kid, I’d punch holes through cardboard and feed through colored Christmas tree lights
to make control panels for imaginary spaceships.

I’m one step closer to making really kick ass imaginary spaceship control panels now.

I believe he was performing maintenance on a heating system.

The roads were bad enough that I worked from home this day, and had the requisite snow day lunch:

I’ve half a mind to write Campbells with my Healthy Request: please add flavor.

The clock read 11:50 and I hadn’t clicked the shutter all day.
That’s when photos like this happen.

So it like, snowed.
From the weather reports and bread aisle, there was some skeptical but tangible concern.
But it was nothing outside of bitter cold (which continues I should add).

Anywho, I noticed the nails or whatever on the rooftop below held some warmth.
And they made this pattern.
At least, I think so.
Heck, I could be wrong. But what else would do that?

In other snapshottery of the day, here’s the thing I picked up at the antique store,
an old metal firetruck:

If you were in Cincinnati on Saturday morning, you couldn’t miss the fog.
It was pervasive and thick.

When I groggily stepped to the bathroom that a.m., I thought it had snowed—
the light coming through the blinds was intensely filtered and white.

I’d be remiss to post about the American Sign Museum and not include a link.

Always fun to see what pulls up in front of the future home for the American Sign Museum.

In this instance, a “Norge Ball”  from a laundromat chain based in Chicago.

Turns out, there’s a whole slew of these things.

I found out about all this on the American Sign Museum’s weblog which details
a bit more about their acquisition on a roadtrip to New England.

Winding down the weekend.

You really don’t get a sense of scale for this plant until you see it in context of say, a building.
